Rinceoirí is the oldest Irish dance club in the Czech Republic. Since its beginning in 1997, the club has spread the Irish dance culture. From 2001 to 2008 it held an annual School of Irish Dance which was a significant Middle-European Irish dance workshop. Now led by Václav Bernard, the workshop also offers classes of Irish music and the Irish language. Since 2002 we have been inviting Irish instructors and started to participate in European Irish dance competitions - first, on our own, then led by Anne-Marie Cunningham T.C.R.G. The Rinceoirí Irish Dance Academy (RIDA) was founded in 2002. At present, it is run by Kristina Roztočilová and classes are led by experienced Rinceoirí instructors. We teach about 100 dancers of various levels in Prague and Pilsen. The best of them can later become members of Rinceoirí. Rinceoirí is currently engaged in practising modern Irish dancing - soft and hard shoes (the so called Irish step), which they present at live performances, mainly in theatres, at festivals, and competitions all around Europe. Rinceoirí dance group practises four times a week, led by Marie Dernovšková. Thoughtfully dealing with technique, traditional dances and choreography, Rinceoirí also focuses on general dancing skills such as ballet and modern dancing, instructed by Věra Akahomen. The Rinceoirí Irish Dance Group and a part of the Rinceoirí Irish Dance Academy also prepare for international competitions of Irish dance (feisanna and championships), trained by Lisa Delaney-Galal T.C.R.G, A.D.C.R.G (a qualified teacher and judge of Irish dancing). Rinceoirí together with the Delaney Academy founded an annual competition in Irish dances and step dance called Prague Feis held in the centre of Prague every May . |
